CUPE 5791 Job Family N/A Category Staff Number of Vacancies 1 Position SummaryPosition Summary:The University of Regina’s University Advancement and Communications department is committed to supporting the key priority areas outlined within the University’s Strategic Plan.The University of Regina seeks a driven and successful fundraiser to join University Advancement & Communications. As a member of the Annual Giving team, the Leadership Giving Officer will be responsible for qualification, solicitation, and stewardship programs/events.The Leadership Giving Officer will cultivate and solicits gifts up to $25,000, in support of current fundraising priorities and will play a central role collaborating with Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Alumni and Community Engagement and Planned Giving. The Leadership Giving Officer will also help facilitate cultivation events throughout the year to promote networking and the overall mission to build long-term relationships and support for the University of Regina.Responsibilities:

  • Qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors capable of making leadership annual gifts and planned gift to the university;
  • Initiates, nurtures and maintains contact with donors and prospects through face-to-face meetings, events, correspondence, and telephone calls to promote positive donor relations;
  • Develops and implements retention strategies to upgrade donors. Recognizes disinterested donors and devises strategies to redirect their interests;
  • Manages the execution of events, projects and initiatives in support of development activities. Engages key volunteers and effectively utilizes events and other activities to move solicitations forward;
  • Conducts appropriate stewardship activities to further enhance the relationship between assigned donors and the University;
  • Leverages relationships to implement strategic solicitation of donors for upgraded gifts; and,
  • Qualifies prospects for potential major gift capacity and interest, and provides appropriate background on prospects to be assigned to Major Gift portfolios.
Position RequirementsPosition Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field combined with 3-5 years of direct fundraising experience preferably with an annual giving focus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Knowledge of fundraising industry standard best practices;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and complex database such as Raiser’s Edge is required;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to personally and consistently close philanthropic and planned gifts from donors;
  • Ability to utilize a donor-centric approach in managing a donor portfolio;
  • Ability to understand university-approved fundraising priorities and translate those into enticing philanthropic giving opportunities for prospects;
  • Active listener with a successful track record of interacting with donors, volunteers, colleagues, and philanthropic stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments and take personal responsibility for outcomes. Persistent, results oriented, driven to succeed personally, and inspired by challenging goals. Demonstrates initiative, drive, and a resourceful and data-driven work ethic.
  • Proactive, productive team contributor with a positive attitude;
  • Creative, innovative, flexible, with excellent organizational and analytical skills; and,
