LIFE ENRICHMENT AID (Part Time)- Riverbend CrossingCandidates are invited to apply for the Part Time Days (20hrs a week) Life Enrichment Aid position at Riverbend Crossing a retirement community, located in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Life Enrichment Aid will foster an active and inclusive social experience in our community drawing upon an outgoing attitude and boundless energy as they assist in the development, planning and execution of engaging activities for residents both in and outside of the community.By joining Esprit, you are contributing to a community of neighbours who quickly become friends. You genuinely want to support our residents as they enjoy our full range of services within our well equipped community.As a Life Enrichment Aid your typical day will involve the following;

  • Assists in the development as well as execution of internal and external programs that enriches the lives of each resident.
  • Helps during resident assessments with regards to their social history, physical ability and behaviors, spiritual lifestyle, important memories and losses, family dynamics and contacts, dietary requirements, and language abilities.
  • Assists in management of the volunteer program, including orientation, motivation and development of the volunteers.
  • Plan, organize and submit for approval a monthly activity schedule offering a variety of activities, crafts and events.
  • Create an enjoyable, relaxed and entertaining environment for the residence while ensuring well-being of all residents.
  • Plan and organize individualized life enrichment programs for the residents while maintain positive relationships with the residents, their families as well as community organizations.
  • Assists in the development and publishing of the monthly newsletter containing a variety of articles and information for distribution to the residents and their families.
  • Be aware and react to special needs including but not limited to; Tuck shop, Arts and crafts, Music events, Fundraising, Cocktail bar, Regular parties, Exercises, Cooking, Counselling, Community events, Educational functions, Library services and Therapeutic recreations
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned
  • Refer and adhere to all policies and procedures as they are in effect.
Job Requirements
  • Secondary education or additional education in recreation or a degree/diploma in gerontology an asset.
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • Previous experience working with seniors and proven ability to understand the needs of the seniors preferably in a retirement home or long-term care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English- must be fluent in Reading, Writing and Speaking
  • Ability to lift and lead multiple fitness programs throughout the day.
  • Demonstrate excitement, organizational skills, sensitivity, patience and maturity.
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing events is an asset.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, volunteers, residents, and families.
