Each Saturday is 7.25 hours – with 5 hours of student contact time which can is made up of zoom, BBB, f2f, independent online work.Posting Status OpenBeing in the LINC program, the instructor will use PBLA methodology to assess CLB levels. Successful applicants must be able to develop both regular LINC and employment focused curriculum to help students create a portfolio of evidence. Must be able to teach all aspects of English language acquisition within employment attainment and sustainment goals. All classes are in either an Online or Blended format using Zoom or BBB and the Avenue platform. To be considered, applicants must currently hold a LearnIT2Teach Stage 3 certificate and be actively using Stage 3 materials in class OR have equivalent Online teaching experience. This position is for one LINC, CLB stage 2 Saturday class. Provide practical English language training based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks to assist adult newcomers in transitioning to life, employment, or further education.2. Teach in a blended learning (part face-to-face, part online) or online environment according to the mandates of the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).3. Our program uses Avenue.ca as the learning management system (LMS) in all classes. Those without Avenue.ca training must complete Stage 1 and Pre-Stage 2 LIT2T training within two (2) weeks of hire in order to gain access to Avenue.ca courseware. Avenue.ca Stage 2 and Stage 3 must be completed within six months of full-time and 10 months of part-time employment while actively teaching with the courseware. This training is provided free and is part of your regular duties.4. Use Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) methodology and guidelines to plan modules and deliver CLB level appropriate language learning activities.5. Maintain student attendance records, student progress and participation, and PBLA portfolio evidence of advancement as well as all other student related information as required by the program.6. Facilitate appropriate conversations with and motivate students who may have low engagement or participation. Able to seek program support where appropriate.7. Accommodate special learning needs faced by students with education and digital literacy gaps when appropriate. Be able to provide appropriate referral as warranted by seeking out program support.8. Establish a flexible schedule to meet student learning needs and schedules.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCESpecific AccountabilitiesDutiesRequired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)1. All instructors must reside and work in Canada as per IRCC mandates.2. Bachelor’s of TESOL from a 350+ hour course recognized by TESL Canada with a Standard 2 from TESL Canada or Canadian equivalent and relevant classroom experience (50 hours of practicum experience) within the last five (5) years. If degree was completed over five (5) years ago, must have a minimum of 500 ESL teaching hours to adult learners in the last five years.ORAn undergraduate degree in a related field (i.e. English Language Arts or Education) AND must have completed a TESOL program from an institute recognized by TESL Canada and/or have TESL Canada or TESL Saskatchewan certification, AS WELL AS a minimum 1500 hours experience in classrooms in the last five (5) years as an English language instructor to adults.3. Minimum 1000 hours within the last two (2) years using an online teaching platform, preferably Moodle.4. Proficient working knowledge of basic MS Office Suite programs and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology. Able to use videoconferencing software.5. Ability to facilitate a blended or online class in settlement language training using and creating LINC materials for both regular LINC and employment focused curriculum in conjunction with PBLA methodology in an adult learning environment.6. Able to demonstrate competence using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) within the LINC classroom themes to construct custom-designed and level-appropriate task-based modules, lesson plans, and assessments.7. Able to demonstrate English language skills at a CLB 11 or minimum IELTS 8.5 in all skills.8. Effective interpersonal skills.9.
