Manager, Executive Operations - EXE001651Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-Rgna-ReginaMinistry: 016 HighwaysSalary Range: $7049-$9165 MonthlyGrade: MCP.07.The Ministry of Highways provides a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system that supports Saskatchewan’s growth economy and quality of life.The OpportunityThe Ministry of Highways is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, well organized, self-starter with exceptional leadership and management skills to join the Deputy Minister’s Office. As the Manager, Executive Operations, reporting to the Deputy Minister, you will review sensitive internal and public documents for consistency and manage and coordinate various projects on behalf of the Deputy Minister’s Office, ensuring confidentiality.As an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with Executive Directors and represent the Deputy Minister’s office on inter-branch projects in the ministry, as well as inter-ministry projects. You will also be a key liaison with the Minister’s Office to ensure ministerial inquiries are handled in a quick and efficient manner.As the Manager, Executive Operations to the Deputy Minister, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being a leader in demonstrating the GOS Commitment of Excellence;
  • Managing various policy issues, coordinate briefing material to respond to emergent issues, and report and provide advice to the Deputy Minister on program, policy and administrative issues;
  • Analyzing and comprehending ministry goals and strategies and understand how they relate to the government’s strategic direction;
  • Sharing useful and relevant information with others and explain the rationale behind decisions;
  • Using a collaborative approach and superior negotiation skills to persuade and convince others in order to achieve goals or resolve problems while demonstrating openness and receptivity to new information;
  • Thinking “outside the box” and challenging the status quo in order to identify new innovative solutions to improve ministry processes;
  • Provide operational consistency, ensure timely handling of issue identification, management, resolution and risk management in an effective manner to proactively address issues;
  • Develop and maintain a respective, collegial relationship within the ministry and the Office of the Minister of Highways in order to address/resolve issues and situations which require confidential, tactful, management and communication.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of building partnerships with ministry senior leaders to proactively offer solutions and influence change;
  • Sound judgment, strong issues management, as well as superior written and/or communication skills;
  • The ability to proactively respond to challenging and dynamic situations;
  • The ability to engage in innovative practices by thinking laterally to identify new solutions – will consider the new and the unconventional;
  • The ability to be self-directed in anticipating, responding and being proactive in adding value to the Deputy Minister Office and the Ministry of Highways;
  • Leadership qualities to coach and motivate team members and others within the ministry; and
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail to plan and manage work in an effective manner, track achievements, take corrective action and meet deadlines.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion a degree in business, public policy, public administration, or a related discipline and experience in public policy analysis. Knowledge of government decision-making and Treasury Board processes would be considered an asset.What we offer:
