We strive to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure to serve the needs of citizens.As part of the Financial Services Branch of the Ministry of Highways, this position will support the adherance to applicable accounting and financial reporting requirements across the ministry.Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, this position will be responsible for financial management, providing expertise to the ministry on all financial policies, procedures and systems, establishing adequate internal controls, leading the ministry’s flood program interfacing with stakeholders, and the management of external audits. A key aspect of these responsibilities will be the proper financial reporting of the ministry’s infrastructure and capital assets.You will lead a team of branch employees by coaching, providing guidance in prioritizing work and assisting in solving difficult issues. You will be able to balance employee needs with workloads and productivity demands.The successful candidate must demonstrate proven interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of financial policies and accounting standards, systems and processes. The incumbent must be able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment to establish, build and maintain positive working relationships and to ensure deadlines, goals and objectives are met. In addition, the incumbent must have proven work experience in financial management and reporting. A solid understanding of accounting standards and a demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and explain financial standards and policies is necessary in this role.
