Job Description

Due to continued growth, Brandt is currently seeking a Manager, Financial Systems, Planning and Analysis in our Regina location. The Manager, Financial Systems, Planning and Analysis will have extensive interaction with all levels of the organization and in conjunction with the Divisional Controller, is responsible to support the Corporation’s Finance department through the development, maintenance and enhancement of the Corporation’s financial systems. In addition, the Manager, Financial Systems, Planning and Analysis, will help to ensure accurate financial data and the timeliness of accounting cycles by assisting with complex data queries, reporting and troubleshooting financial data issues. They will also play a significant role in corporate projects, providing expertise on financial aspects of systems processes, internal controls and building efficiencies. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter, able to prioritize tasks, has excellent communication skills, and brings a diverse financial background including process improvement and system implementations.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, develop, and manage a team of financial analysts.
  • Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process, including short and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
  • Develop and improve reporting including key performance indicators and dashboards to help monitor the business.
  • Provide accurate and timely analysis and recommendations to management for decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Develop and manage analytical tools and processes to improve the quality and transparency of financial results.
  • Lead process and system improvement initiatives within finance.
  • Provides advanced technical and operational support for financial business systems and processes
  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) with respect to financial systems, processes and rules
  • Ensures financial systems and processes, including rules and reports supporting the accuracy of the corporation’s general ledger, are monitored and maintained
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex and escalated financial system and process issues, including performing in depth data queries and development of complex queries, spreadsheets and reports
  • Liaises/consults with the Systems division, operational business areas and/or vendors with respect to financial aspects of projects and to resolve complex and escalated issues
  • Identifies, researches, analyses and recommends improvements to business systems and processes
  • Develops policies and procedures for business systems and processes
  • Identifies, develops and delivers user training for business systems and processes
  • Performs business analysis activities for financial system or process projects (such as system maintenance and upgrades). These activities include understanding project implications; planning; developing and communicating requirements; identifying and proposing solutions; and testing, validating and implementing solutions
  • Assists in ensuring business systems are used effectively as a tool to maintain appropriate internal controls over accounting activities
  • Assists with hiring, supervising and evaluating department staff, ensuring that all personnel are adequately trained and have up-to-date job descriptions;
  • Assists the Divisional Controller in setting the priorities within the department
  • Specific projects and other related duties as required
Required SkillsRequired Experience
  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CPA) preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management, including accounting principles, practices and applications as well as financial analysis and budgeting experience.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP computer systems an asset.
  • Experience building and enhancing finance processes, models and systems strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in a financial systems environment
  • Working knowledge of financial aspects of enterprise accounting software, such as Baan, Oracle Financials or SAP, and database query software
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in order to establish effective working relationships and problem solve
