Job Description

CSM Compressor Inc. (part of the Burckhardt Compression Group) has established a strong reputation for quality and service in the repair of reciprocating natural gas compressors in Alberta. Our commitment to investing in our people and equipment will ensure that we remain leaders in our field.CSM Compressor has an immediate opening for a Manual Machinist to join our team in the Drumheller, AB shop. The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable and will enjoy the challenges of working in a smaller shop. The Manual Machinist will be accountable for providing accurate and quality work while maintaining compliance with the companys Quality and OH&S programs.This full-time, permanent position will report to the Drumheller Shop Supervisor and the shift will follow a 9/80 schedule with standard work hours from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Overtime and/or weekend work may be available or required at times.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize assigned tasks starting with interpreting drawings for specifications, set up and operating requirements.
  • Operate machining equipment including small manual lathes, milling machine, grinders, lapping machines, torches.
  • Clean, grind, polish, machine and lap compressor components.
  • Manufacture piston rings, packing case cups, bushings and smaller parts.
  • Perform the machining of parts on conventional equipment (band saw, lathe, milling machine, grinder, drill press, etc.) within tight tolerances.
  • Assembly and disassembly of components as required.
  • Use measuring instruments (micrometers, dial gauges, etc.).
  • Participate in near miss & incident reporting and adhere to all Quality and EOHS program requirements.
  • Backup driving responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Must be detail oriented with proven ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and must have a safety and quality mindset.
  • Must be self-directed with little supervision and able to positively contribute to a team environment
  • Proven ability to read and interpret drawings and part specifications.
  • Strong communication (verbal & written) skills.
Education & Experience:
  • Machinist trade certification is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the setup and operation of manual lathes and milling machines.
  • Familiarity with the Natural Gas industry and reciprocating compressors would be an asset.
