Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Read specifications to determine quantities of materials required.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer.
  • Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture.
  • Use brushes, rollers or spray equipment to apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, metal coating or fire retardant.
Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years of working experience
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
Certifications:
  • WHMIS.
  • Respirator Fit Test.
  • Industrial First Aid is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day.
  • Use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures for 10-12 hours/day.
