Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Drivers Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Drivers Handbook
Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
Demostrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Must hold and maintain a Class 1-5 Drivers License and valid School Bus Endorsement
- training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
Clear drivers abstract, with no major infractions
- A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
- A copy of the abstract can be:

  - emailed to transportation@pvsd.ca or
  - faxed to 306-543-1771.
Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Divisions expense.

Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $51.11 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.191/km
- The mileage for this route is paid at the minimum of 90 kms and takes approximately 2.5 hours per day
Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
Commencing September 1, 2022
Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
