Petroleum Geologist - GEO000408Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-Rgna-ReginaMinistry: 023 Energy and ResourcesSalary Range: $5,825-$7,574 MonthlySalary Supplement: 14%Grade: MCP.05.The Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a sedimentary research geologist to join the Saskatchewan Geological Survey’s Petroleum Geology Unit. As a successful candidate, you will join a team of geoscientists who encourage and support the exploration, development and effective management of Saskatchewans hydrocarbon, lithium, and helium resources. You will use geophysical well logs, core drill cuttings and various mapping software packages to pick stratigraphic formation tops and maintain them in the Government of Saskatchewan’s Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS). You will also conduct stratigraphic and sedimentological studies of sedimentary strata, primarily in southern Saskatchewans subsurface, and aid senior researchers in carrying out their projects.The successful candidate will have knowledge of the principles of stratigraphy and sedimentology as well as knowledge of the geology and stratigraphy of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will also be a self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and in a team environment and will be thorough, conscientious and attentive to detail.To qualify for this position, you will require a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and be registered (or be eligible for registration) in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
