Job Description

Faculty/Department Faculty of Social Work Unit Social Work - Staff Employee Group URFA APT Collective Agreement Consideration Open with preference given to APT members. CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Staff Number of Vacancies 1 Position SummaryPosition Summary:Under the direction of the Associate Dean and Faculty Administrator at the UofR, Regina location, the individual will provide academic advising and administrative support for students who are working on an undergraduate degree.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advising of undergraduate and graduate students, to support a smooth transition into the UofR and our programs, while encouraging student success;
  • Overseeing student undergraduate student program progress, and provide administrative support to smooth processes and provide encouragement and support to all students to progress and succeed in their academic goals;
  • Strategize and coordinate student recruitment initiatives of undergraduate students to build a friendly, diverse, and welcoming campus;
  • Works collaboratively with the Student Services team to process all areas of student services and advising;
  • Plans and hosts student information sessions;
  • Organize, prioritize and multi-task diverse administrative responsibilities within a unique University environment; and,
  • Participate in Faculty meetings to develop, plan and coordinate Faculty initiatives that are in alignment with those in the University and Faculty strategic plans.
Position RequirementsPosition Requirements:
  • University degree supplemented with a minimum of three years’ of administrative and academic advising experience, preferably in a University environment; anequivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
Knowledge of:
  • Technology and software used on campus and required for the position: Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, various communication options (e.g. GroupWise, list servers), Banner (e.g. student, general, financial, scheduling), CASPUR Reports, UR Self Service, UR Docs, Novell, FAST, Zoom;
  • Social work programs, transfer credits, and good-practice mentoring;
  • U of R’s administrative structure, various Faculties, programs, departments and units and services they provide;
  • Graduate and undergraduate university admission; program admission; registration, attendance, evaluation, discipline and appeals processes; convocation, financial aid and transcript evaluation processes; academic terms;
  • Undergraduate and graduate programs to advise students in making informed decisions about their program requirements where multiple options of course selection exists, some of which due to the students unique circumstances are external to the U of R;
  • Scholarships and awards; and,
  • Research costs, negotiate resources, create a budget and administer it.
Assets:
  • Knowledge of U of S registration, admission procedures, and terminology to advise Saskatchewan off campus students;
  • Knowledge of the graduate and undergraduate Student Societies including their role, policies and procedures that govern these groups;
  • Knowledge of SW professional organizations (CASW, CASSW, SASW) and how they interact with providing information and resources to students and faculty;
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the University of Regina;
  • Knowledge of student services within the University of Regina;
  • Knowledge of Convocation policies, processes and processes as it applies to the Faculty, graduate and undergraduate.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $60,172 - $81,196 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours
  • Monday – Friday, 8:15 – 4:30, located in Saskatoon
  • Evening or weekend work hours is required occasionally;
  • Working off campus in a decentralized Faculty, requires travel, 5 to 6 times a year, mostly day trips but occasionally 1 to 2 times a year over-night stays as well
