Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time.Plains currently is looking to fill several Rail Loader vacancies at our Dewdney Terminal near Regina, SK. As a member of the Regina Operations Team within Unifor Local 745, the successful candidate’s duties will include, but are not limited to, performing daily railcar loading activities at the Dewdney Terminal in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.This is a position that requires shift work on a rotating, 12-hour basis. Overtime is expected.Plains provides a competitive wage and top tier group benefit plan for employees and their eligible dependents. New employees are eligible to participate on the first day of employment.Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring adherence to safety standards in accordance with company policy and legislated requirements.
  • Verifying railcar numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars.
  • Connecting, disconnecting, gauging, and sealing LPG railcars as the loading process requires.
  • Performing railyard switching operations required to position railcars at various stages of the operation.
  • Interacting with CP and Plains staff regarding receipt, inspection, and shipment of railcars.
  • Performing mechanical troubleshooting for respective loading equipment; performing pump and valve maintenance.
  • Safety system testing and periodic inspection/calibration of equipment.
  • Understanding the flow rates of product in conjunction with car loading and movement to meet daily loading requirements.
  • Providing project support as required based on trade qualifications.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Interprovincial Journeyperson—Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Electrician, and/or Instrumentation and Control Technician strongly preferred.
  • Power engineering certification considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs considered an asset.
  • 1–3 years of previous loading or rail operations experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong safety orientation.
  • Ability to confidently and accurately calculate figures and amounts related to proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
