Faculty/Department Faculty of Education Unit Education-Deans Office Employee Group URFA CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Sessional Number of Vacancies 4 Position SummarySuccessful candidates will be assigned to supervise intern student teachers in and around Whitehorse and in neighboring communities in the Yukon. They will act as liaison persons for the faculty and offer resources, guidance and support for the cooperating teacher and interns.Sessional supervisors are expected to be available to visit and provide support/guidance as needed by the interns and/or cooperating teachers for the duration of internship. Please note, that should the intern student withdraw from the field experience before completion the Sessional Supervisor for Internship will be paid on a prorated basis. Some driving will be required.This is part of the Faculty of Education’s Bachelor of Education Program in partnership with Yukon University in Whitehorse, Yukon.Position RequirementsNormally applicants will have a Master’s degree in Education and experience in the education system appropriate to the area of supervision applied for, knowledge and experience with the BC curriculum, and knowledge and experience with Faculty of Education programs. Applicants should have proficiency with K-12 curriculum documents and be abreast with current pedagogical approaches in the K-12 system.A current Police Information Check/Criminal Record Check (including a “Vulnerable Sector Search”) will be required prior to employment and paid by the employee.
