Where an EE gap exists at the time of appointment, EE may be used as an appointment criterion for permanent and temporary appointments/staffing actions over six months made through this process.Job DutiesSP-04 Collections Contact Officer:

  • Initiate contact with taxpayers, their representatives, and third parties to gather information and documents in order to collect outstanding amounts and resolve/refer compliance issues for an assigned workload.
  • Review and analyze account and taxpayer information to establish filing¸ reporting and payment deficiencies, hardship, ability to pay, and identify sources of recovery.
  • Receive and respond to mail, telephone and in-office enquiries and complaints from taxpayers and representatives.
  • Verify or research taxpayer information and leads from inside the office by using internal and external sources and by making requests for fieldwork such as out of office interviews with taxpayer, attending insolvency proceedings, and other events.
  • Initiate and follow through with all legal actions until completion in accordance with Agency policies and procedures to collect or encumber assets to safeguard the Agencys interests.
  • Make recommendations for relief considering fairness provisions, remission guidelines, or write-offs.
  • Make recommendations for relief considering hardship criteria in relation to accounts managed by other government departments.

Failure to do so can result in your application not being considered further.ExperienceMust have a minimum of six (6) consecutive months of experience in the last three (3) years performing one or more of the following job duties :1. Experience in a collections environment, collecting debts owing from individuals or businesses such as accounts receivables, credit card debts, loans, and mortgages; taking legal action on outstanding debts, dealing with difficult customers and tactfully resolving complaints or problems.OR2. Experience in an office/call centre environment including: book keeping, preparing customer invoicing, daily deposits, tracking daily payments received, applying data to vendor receivables, responding to enquiries over the phone, inputting and maintaining information in data systems, performing collection calls to customers in arrears, and gathering, organizing, analyzing, and compiling information to create documents or reports.OR3. Experience administering credit in the financial services sector, or similar setting. This may include: investigations of credit worthiness, analysis of an applicants financial situation and/or determination of the risk to the creditor for the granting of loans, mortgages, credit cards, trade credit, etc.The onus is on the candidate to demonstrate how they meet the experience requirement(s).   • Ability to Communicate Effectively in English- verbal
  • Second language evaluation (for any bilingual positions that may be staffed from this process)
  • Performance validation
You must be successful in each assessment in order to continue to the next assessment and further in this process.Note: A top down approach may be invoked at any stage in this process to limit numbers of candidates or for appointment purposes.IMPORTANT: Virtual assessments may be conducted by telephone, video conference or other alternate formats where possible. During virtual assessments the candidate must have access to a telephone, stable internet connections and privacy for the duration of the assessment. Certain software/Apps may be required to complete the assessment. It is recommended to have access to a desktop or laptop computer during the assessments to allow you to participate fully at the assessment stage. Candidates may not be accompanied by other individuals during their assessment.You are expected to make yourself available for assessment when scheduled. Assessments will only be rescheduled for exceptional circumstances. The staffing board will make these decisions on a case by case basis.Asset staffing requirementsAsset staffing requirements may also be assessed/applied during the staffing process and used to identify candidates for positions.
