CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Staff Number of Vacancies 1 Position SummaryPosition Summary:The Development Unit within University Advancement & Communications is currently seeking a Student Awards Officer. This position advocates on behalf of the donor and the University of Regina, ensures that the donor’s and the University’s interests are safeguarded and that optimal results are achieved through the administration of donor gifts.In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the Student Awards Officer creates gift agreements that clearly convey the donor’s intent for their gift; while ensuring that the gift agreements align with the University of Regina’s Gift Acceptance Policy. In consultation with internal and external stakeholders, this position creates and/or revises terms of reference that outline all relevant information regarding how the award will be dispersed, the selection and eligibility criteria, and other information pertinent to the administration of the award as identified in the gift agreement.The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, documentation and management strategies for special projects that effect terms of reference and gift agreements and develop and implement strategies that fulfill our reporting obligations and strengthen long-term relationships with donors.Working independently and as part of a team, the successful candidate will create and update correspondence for donors in keeping within privacy legislation and manage correspondence and inquiries from alumni and donors, ensuring timely and appropriate responses. Will also perform other related duties as assigned.Position RequirementsPosition Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree combined with three years of direct experience in fundraising or client centered environment with a focus on contract writing. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered;
  • An understanding of post-secondary educational institutions and student awards preferred;
  • Must have demonstrated practical and procedural knowledge of donor relations, awards, principles and tax laws in relation to charitable donations;
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be an excellent proofreader and accurate in producing all written material;
  • Well developed research synthesis, analysis, writing and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare reports and recommendations;
  • Demonstrated experience, discretion, excellent attention to detail, tact and judgment in creating, composing, and editing all written materials;
  • Must be able to interpret and translate the donor’s intent into gift agreement and terms of reference in a timely and accurately manner;
  • Ability to work in collaboration with faculties and departments within the University to ensure that the intent of the donor’s gift continues and is maintained;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with internal/external stakeholders;
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook-GroupWise and PowerPoint);
  • Direct experience working in complex databases such as: Raiser’s Edge and Banner, with the demonstrated ability to track and maintain a variety of records and information;
  • Be creative, resourceful, innovative and exhibit the ability to exercise leadership and function in a team-oriented environment;
  • Recognize problems quickly and effectively facilitate solutions;
  • Ability to handle large workloads with strict deadlines;
  • Demonstrate sound judgment especially with sensitive and confidential information; and,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to make sound decisions, willingness to search out answers, and recognize when others need to be involved.
