Technology is changing the world….start your career with ISM and get a front row seat!Close Date: October 31, 2022The Support Analyst (Mainframe) will learn and apply fundamental mainframe computing skills through a comprehensive training and mentorship program. This includes: coding and writing simple programs, deploying and managing operating systems, implementing monitoring, configuration management and reporting, executing change management, and implementing system security. This position understands and fulfils customer requirements, and executes assignments to meet specifications.Responsibilities:

  • Attend all virtual training and mentoring sessions provided.
  • Learning and eventually moving to installing, monitoring, testing and/or supporting mainframe hardware and/or software.
  • Train and take on support Mainframe System Software and Security management processes
  • Installation of Mainframe related tools and utilities
  • Software maintenance - patches and upgrades
  • Testing and Documentation
  • Execute Problem and Change Management process for Mainframe server problems and changes.
  • Assist in establishing, documenting and maintaining Mainframe standards, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Mainframe disaster recovery tests.
  • Design and write small systems using packaged software.
  • May train customers and staff in the use of the installed hardware and software.
  • Monitor, analyze and resolve problems with the use, operation or support of hardware and software, requesting guidance from senior staff as required.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the use, operation and support of hardware and software, and how to diagnose and remedy related problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Recognized diploma related to computer hardware/software or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Some knowledge of the use, operation and support of hardware and software, and how to diagnose and remedy related problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to support microcomputer hardware/software, electronic input/output and equipment.
  • Good interpersonal, public relations and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to work either independently or as part of a team.
  • Skills and abilities acceptable to the client.
Key Skills & Abilities:
  • Some experience with JCL and REXX programs considered an asset.
  • Up to 2 years experience in a customer-oriented role.
  • Knowledge of basic program languages.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good understanding of computer system environments.
  • Good communications skills for interfacing with clients, both internal and external.
  • Strong problem determination and resolution skills.
  • Ability and initiative to learn and use new techniques, products and systems.
  • Strong team player.
  • Strong self-learner
  • Ability to share on-call duty responsibilities as required.
  • Work overtime if/when required to meet workload demands.
