  • Position Type: Transportation/Bus DriverDate Posted: 1/20/2022Location: Balgonie Elementary School Job Purpose: Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      Ability to safely and confidently operate a school busGood working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety ActGood working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Drivers Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Drivers HandbookGood understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviourDemostrated patience, maturity and experience working with childrenAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
    Qualifications:
      Must hold and maintain a Class 1-5 Drivers License and valid School Bus Endorsement
        training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
      Clear drivers abstract, with no major infractions
        A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your applicationA copy of the abstract can be:
          uploaded to your online application,emailed to transportation@pvsd.ca orfaxed to 306-543-1771.
      Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic ActFirst Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Divisions expense.
    Working Conditions:
      Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $50.11 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.187/km
        The approximate mileage for this route is 86 kms (paid at the minimum of 90 kms) and takes approximately 2.5 hours per day
      Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the busCommencing as soon as possible and ending June 28, 2022Working in varied climates and differing road conditionsPhysical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
