Employment Opportunity Manager, Occupational Health and Safety/Infection Prevention and ControlPermanent, Full Time$55.84 - $64.08 per hourJob Posting #23-98INTERNAL/EXTERNALRenfrew Victoria Hospital is a progressive 55 bed, 450+ staff hospital located in the Town of Renfrew, an easy drive west of Kanata. You will be part of a leadership team that is passionate about delivering quality health care to their patients.As the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety/Infection Prevention and Control, you will coordinate the development of RVH’s Employee Health, Wellness and Safety Program, Emergency Preparedness Planning as well as the implementation, surveillance and evaluation of Infection Control practices. The position includes responsibility for the following program components: occupational health and safety, employee health, disability claims management, attendance management, emergency preparedness planning, and hospital-wide infection control. An Assistant Occupational Health and Safety/Infection Prevention and Control reports to you. In addition, you will support our partner hospital, St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay, Ontario onsite one day per week and as needed.In this role, you will act as a resource to management and staff and will work in close contact with staff, department managers, community physicians, Workers #39; Safety and Insurance Board, long-term disability carrier, and other related agencies.Key duties and responsibilities are:Ø Foster partnerships with appropriate external organizations to ensure that the hospital’s infection control program is consistent with current legislation and practice.Ø Advise and collaborate with department managers and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) to ensure all departments operate to the provisions of all applicable legislation. Ø Collaborate with hospital departments to develop, implement and monitor infection control and related practices.Ø Develop and conduct audits of infection control processes and practices as deemed appropriate by provincial requirements and by internal assessment.Ø Conduct surveillance programs per legislative requirements and in compliance with accreditation standards. Maintain electronic database for all infection control surveillance. Ø Follow-up recommended actions from Ministry of Labour inspections related to infection control practice.Ø Assist in the development of wellness, fitness, health promotion and healthy workplace initiatives.Ø Coordinate, market and deliver the annual staff vaccination program.Ø Provide appropriate advice, assessment, counselling, and treatment to employees who become ill or injured at work. Ensure appropriate intervention/follow-up is provided. Ø Monitor employee illness and absence with appropriate intervention to speed recovery and return to work. Offer counselling to employees as applicable.Ø Manage the employee incident reporting including initial assessment of the employee, providing first aid as needed, incident form completion, WSIB reporting, follow-up and training of the employee as necessary, trend analysis of employee incidents, and reporting and making recommendations to the JOHSC.Ø Develop and coordinate appropriate medical surveillance programs for employees who are exposed to hazardous substances/situations in their work environment, for example, needle stick injuries, latex sensitivity, etc.Ø Prepare, communicate and manage all areas of the emergency preparedness plan.Ø Support RVH Mission to provide the best possible health care experience for our patients and their families. As an ideal candidate you have:Ø Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience; Ø Canadian Nursing Association Certification in Occupational Health {i.e., COHN(C)} or Occupational Health and Safety Certification (CRSP) preferred.Ø Current BLS certificate required;Ø Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Public Hospitals Act required;Ø Experience in WSIB claims/disability management;Ø Knowledge of Infection Control practicesØ Experience developing and managing emergency preparedness plans.Ø Understanding of the issues relevant to working in a unionized environment;Ø Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational and prioritization skills.Ø Excellent teaching and health promotion skills, and a commitment to continuing education.Ø Demonstrated skills of planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and policiesØ Demonstrated understanding and commitment to issues of confidentialityØ Successful completion of approved courses in Occupational Health and/or Human ResourcesYou will stand out if you have experience, knowledge and understanding of Hospital and/or previous experience as an Occupational Health Nurse and/or as an Infection Control Nurse in a hospital environment;If you have infection control expertise but lack the OH amp;S background; or have occupational healthamp; safety expertise but lack the infection control background, please apply – we want to hear from you!What you can expect:
