Key Accountabilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
• Build and erect walls, floor, and roof systems.
• Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.

Essential Requirements:

• 1-2 years of Carpenter experience.
• Red Seal or working towards Red Seal is an asset.
• Highly motivated, energetic, personable, and forward-thinking.
• Has analytical skills, shows initiative, and can be flexible/adaptable.
• Knowledge of Federal/Provincial building codes.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction and remodelling, trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality, and cost control
• Have your bare hand and power tools along with personal protection equipment.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
• Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
• First aid is an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand and be on their feet 10-12 hours/day
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms.
• Must be able to work in outdoor weather and unregulated temperatures.
