Job Description

Job SummaryThe Buyer plays a vital role in the supply chain process of G+D. This role will be responsible for managing the timely and most effective supply of materials (including MRO, IT and other indirect categories), bringing the best value to the company through best purchasing practices. This includes vendor and contract management, leading of vendor RFPs, inventory management, active participation in client RFPs, and achievement of cost reduction targets.The role supports the Head of Purchasing in achieving the department’s operational and strategic goals, with close collaboration with Operations, IT, Sales, Finance and Regional / Global Purchasing.This role will also have a strong focus on regional and global synergies for the IT category.Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for P2P (analysis, sourcing, negotiating and contracting to deliver maximum productivity benefits) in assigned Categories.
  • Lead cost reduction efforts through but not limited to RFX’s initiatives, negotiation of improved contracts and payment terms
  • Collaborate with Regional and Global teams to ensure full visibility of local category strategies and ensure sharing of best practices
  • Ensure suppliers SLA’s and metrics (deliveries, pricing, quality, continuous improvement) are met and exceed
  • Analyze Supplier Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and resolve by negotiating settlement with supplier authorized by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Ensure the successful management of material input and output to support our customers and stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage inventory levels in order to drive reduction of working capital
  • Develop strong collaboration with Sales, Finance and Operations to ensure a proactive approach to positively impact P&L (savings, invoicing dirscepancies resolution) and an efficient Supply Chain Management
  • Select, qualify, set up, manage and evaluate vendors (SRM) according to GD’s standards and procedures
  • Identify opportunities and contribute to support Procurement sourcing decisions e.g. P2P business intelligence and process improvement
  • Ensure customer and internal stakeholder service levels are met and exceed
  • Support import/export shipment activities
  • Support import/export shipment activities
  • Use SAP tools to analyze inventory, create purchase orders, etc. And make decisions according to overall requirements.
  • Creates and mantains in-depth category reports including presentations for different stakeholders.
  • Contract Management for assigned categories.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Comply with G&D Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures,
  • Adhere to G+D’s Corporate Compliance
  • Assist in the support and execution of Freight/Carriage/ Import/Export
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications, Experience and Educational RequirementsExperience:
  • 3-5 years relevant procurement experience, preferably from Manufacturing or Assembly environment (ISO Certified an asset)
  • Strong ERP skills. SAP experience preferred
  • Production/Supply Chain planning experience
  • IT, MRO, Direct/Indirect Spend Category management an asset
  • Export / Import experience is an asset
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong computer skills are a must; MS Office PP/Excel (advanced)
  • Proven results in driving supplier improvement and cost reductions and P&L, working capital understanding.
  • Proficient in pricing/ discounts, interest, percentages calculations and P&L understanding.
  • Strong analytical ability to choose suppliers based on TCO
  • Focus and detailed oriented in order to review contractual terms
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Process improvement mindset with a history of professional growth.
  • Proven track record of managing internal customer relationships in an matrix organization comprised of strong business leaders.
  • Accurately identifies risks affecting the supply, transformation and delivery of products and services to meet stakeholders demand. Develops strategies to analyze and control the impact of the identified risks.
  • Capacity to think in discerning ways to solve problems, analyze data and to recall and apply information
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and motivation of a team and understands the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performance

Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering; or equivalent
  • SCMP certificate; or equivalent, an asset
Working Conditions
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • At times, may be required to work evening or weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Also be required to travel to our offices, production sites in other countries.
  • Ability to work from home and from the office. (Hybrid)
