The services provided by the Client Support Section vary in both diversity and complexity and is accomplished through responding to user requests for assistance in a timely manner and providing City Staff access to emerging desktop and peripheral technologies to assist them in their daily job functions. The Client Support team is the primary front facing interface between City Staff and the IT Division. This team is responsible for operating the Citys IT Service Desk, a single point of contact for user requests and desk-side support, facilitated by answering phone calls and completing Heat tickets submitted by staff. This is an in-office/on-site opportunity.Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Entering Service Request and Incident tickets into Heat
  • Answering phone calls and providing tier 1 support
  • Escalating tickets for issues requiring tier 2 support
  • Taking inventory of newly delivered equipment and tracking through CMDB (Configuration Manager Database)
  • Imaging and preparing computer hardware for deployment
  • Preparing and provisioning iPhone and Samsung smartphone devices
  • Deploying computers and smartphones to City Staff
  • Updating current hardware assets in CMDB
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Recent Graduate (within the past year) of a College or University in an IT-related Discipline
  • Any of the following certifications would be considered an asset: MCTS, MCSA, MCP, MOS, A+, Network +, ITIL Essentials, LEAN Six Sigma Yellow belt (or higher) or Help Desk Institute - HDA (HelpDesk Analyst) Certification
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Information Technologies and experience related to Service Desk Practice and Principles, IT operational processes, service management, and industry best practices and standards (e.g. ITIL)
  • A strong customer service focus and ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, explaining technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff;
  • Well-developed problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge of and basic skills with tablets, smart phones and mobile device management
  • Basic understanding of desktop management technologies, such as antivirus and malware remediation software, software and application deployment, systems management
  • Familiarity with iPhone and Samsung devices would be considered an asset
  • Contributes to building and being a part of a positive culture
  • Demonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisions
  • Demonstrate the City’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Drivers License, and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated) and will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
