The position, under the Principal of ISCS and the Associate Director of Education, Equitable Outcomes and Schools, will have the responsibility for the management of the Reception Centre, Community and Partnership Developer Team as well as the ISCS Administrative Assistants.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:To oversee the Reception Centre; Community and Partnership Developers (CPDs); ISCS Departmental Administrative Assistants; and operations of ISCS, in compliance with the department, school and system needs.To review departmental system processes for efficiencies and to develop and maintain new operational procedures for Inclusive School and Community Services with a focus on innovative operational initiatives.To oversee the Reception Centre staff (CUPE 1734, ETFO/OSSTF), School Settlement Service Liaison Coordinator, Community and Partnership Developers (PSSP) and ISCS department Administrative Assistants.To develop, implement and oversee business processes and procedures for partnerships between the Reception Centre, Inclusive School and Community Services, Community and Partnership Developers (CPDs) and other departments.To support staff hiring for Equity Teacher Consultants, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Team members, Assistant to Associate Director and other positions as they arise, in partnership with Human Resources, the Associate Director of Education and Principal.To hire staff for the Reception Centre which includes, Administrative Staff, School Settlement Service Liaison Coordinator, Occasional Teachers, LTOs, summer teacher assessors, casual staff and students.Also responsibility includes hiring CPDs and ISCS Departmental Administrative Assistants.To conduct performance appraisals of the Reception Centre staff (CUPE 1734 employees), CPDs (PSSP employees) and ISCS department Administrative Assistants. (Non-union).To work with the Associate Director of Education, to manage ISCS, Reception Centre and Equity budgets and attend budget determination meetings to provide input.To manage system processes, which includes the Board Translator procedures, and the Road to inclusivity project.To manage, and recommend changes to the Board Multi-faith calendar working with Purchasing Services as necessary.To assign referral requests from schools, board departments and parents/guardians to CPDs, Principal, Dismantling Anti-Black Racism, and the Coordinators for Equity Teacher Facilitator and First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education teams.To manage the gathering, analysis, tracking and recording of citizenship status information from the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration reporting for refugees, immigrants and other newcomers who are not permanent residents.Responsible for developing a process that leads to a Newcomer Strategy to support Newcomer families. This includes partnering with SEPYR, Community Partners, the Principal of ISCS, the School Settlement Service Liaison Coordinator, and other departments (i.e., Curriculum and Instructional Services - ESL/CRRP teams and ECS).To communicate, liaise, provide advice and maintain positive working relationships with system partners, community organizations and service agencies.To work with the Associate Director of Education, Equitable Outcomes and Schools and Principal, ISCS and monitor the status of work and projects.To participate in meetings and serve on various committees as required.To create reports, presentations, briefings and work on projects as required.To perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:A three-year post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related field, or as approved by Board.Minimum of five years’ experience in an educational/unionized environment is required.Ability to understand and respond to culturally sensitive issues while dealing with newcomers to Canada.Highly effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, organization and computer skills including working Google Suite tools (e.g. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms) are requiredAbility to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board with tact and diplomacy is required.Equity, Diversity and Inclusion StatementThe York Region District School Board (YRDSB) believes in giving each and every applicant an equal opportunity to succeed on their own merit and we strive to hire staff that reflect and support the diverse perspectives, experiences and needs of our students and our communities.
