We are seeking innovative, customer focused people to join our team!Our Accounting Department at our Head Office in Richmond, BC currently opportunities for:Accounts Payable Senior Clerk The Accounts Payable, Senior Clerk is an integral part of the Accounts Payable Team, supporting the AP Team as a whole to ensure payments are made accurately and on time.The AP Senior Clerk directly communicates with the vendor’s representatives to reconcile statements and work through any discrepancies.The AP Senior Clerk also assists management to ensure month end closing processes are adhered to so the AP sub-ledger is accurate and complete as reported.Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Intermediate AP Clerks to ensure the processing of payments to vendors is accurate, on time and secure.
  • Calculate and process Price Protection Claims and Value Adjustments to ensure accurate costing of products and services.
  • Perform Vendor reconciliations and understand the impact of adjustments.
  • Prepare correspondence to vendors relating to statements, debit balances, disputes and settlements.
  • Review and action debit balances and open receiving, as prescribed.
  • Perform account reconciliations in the General ledger and understand the impact of adjustments
  • Create and maintain a safe, fair and harassment free work environment.
  • Assists Management team to ensure month end closing procedures are adhered to.
  • Assists with ensuring AP sub-ledger is accurate and completed as reported.
  • Deal confidentially with company financials and other information.
  • Identify root causes for payable issues and implement solutions.
  • Assist with other tasks as required by the Manager and other team members to meet deadlines and reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • 5 years Accounts Payables experience, preferably in a large, high volume AP department.
  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, as well as G/L and Trial Balance.
  • Knowledge of 3-way matching system in EDI and manual environments.
  • Understanding of inventory costingamp; adjustments and its impact on AP processing.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial applications, AS400 and Microsoft Office 2010 applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and Access.
  • Intermediate level spreadsheet analysis skills.
  • 2 – 3 years accounting experience or equivalent post-secondary education.
  • Experience working in an EDI environment is preferred.
  • Understand and apply Accounts Payable processes, policies, procedures, and internal control standards.
