He/she supports patient care by practicing within the Advanced Care Paramedic scope of practice and demonstrated competencies in provision of care.The Advanced Care Paramedic accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through on-going professional development, including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities. The Advanced Care Paramedics practice and conduct is defined by the professional registration body (EHSNS), and they are responsible for ensuring that their registration is current and valid.The Advanced Care Paramedic contributes to the efficiency and effective functioning of the department in meeting patient needs. The Advanced Care Paramedic supports the development of colleagues and students through acting as a preceptor and providing on-going mentorship.Qualifications

  • Grade XII required
  • Registered and licensed with the College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia (CPNS) required
  • Three-five years of experience working as an Advanced Care Paramedic an asset
  • Current BLS-C (HCP) certification is required
  • Previous work experience in a hospital setting or in emergency care preferred
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment and telecommunications skills
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French is an asset
