For more information about our Gardein™ plant-based food products in Canada, visit https://gardein.ca/Job Summary: This candidate works closely under supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, determines the quantity and order date materials to meet production lines scheduling. Troubleshoots daily quantity issues and track material suppliers in order to accomplish dates. Assists in planning and purchasing of packaging, raw materials and other supplies of goods and services from approved suppliers in a manner consistent with approved quality standards and delivery requirements. Develop the purchasing function to advance the goals, objectives and interests of the company. Back up for other department members as needed.Position Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and timely communicate any material shortage or production issue to Plant manager and Supply Chain Manager.
  • Execute production planning based on MRP and ensure check list is completed. Prepare, review, and send weekly supplier releases.
  • Identify any suppliers deviating from over / under shipment expectation.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Research and Development and Marketing departments to maintain and improve quality of packaging and raw materials and develop new products while maintaining seamless customer service to other departments
  • Work closely with Production Planner to maintain correct and effective level of material inventory to support the production schedule and attain working capital goals
  • Review packaging materials for advance booking of orders to maintain stability of supply. Manage inventory in the reasonable level for balancing demands and warehouse costs
  • Work with Marketing, Research and Development and suppliers to facilitate creation and approval of new packaging items.
  • Review purchased items with Quality Assurance to ensure quality of materials and ensure adherence to company specifications
  • Keep management abreast of market and price trends that affect the company as well as potential service issues
  • Document and resolve supplier quality and performance problems. Request and report cause and corrective action reports to prevent reoccurrence
  • Problem solve supply and service problems, contributing in improving customer service to all stakeholders
  • Actively engage in plant safety, quality and operations activities as recommended
  • Maintain a working knowledge of other purchasing roles including raw materials. Act as fill in for other department members as needed
  • Assist in planning and monitor of company inventory level and inventory accuracy
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisors and managers
Position Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree of business, supply chain management or related areas is preferred
  • Minimal one-year experience of production planning, supply planning, demand planning or procurement experience is required.
  • Ability to process data analysis of massive production planning and inventory data efficiently with Excel, Access or other tools like Power BI.
  • Ability to negotiate with multiple teams for identifying, planning and solving for bottlenecks and challenges under cross function team collaborations.
  • Ability to prioritize different tasks and accomplish tasks within deadline.
  • Ability to negotiate, follow up with vendors for having quoted ETA, lead time and dealing with any delay of shipment.
  • Having experience of MRP/ERP system is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
