Job Description

On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Data Architect to join our Client #39;s team on a contract basis. This role is primarily remote (work from home) with occasional onsite meetings in Victoria, BC.Summary of the Role:Our Client is undertaking a data transformation initiative as part of a multi-year Enterprise Data Program. The Data Architect will play a key role in designing and implementing a unified data architecture that integrates Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems. This role will focus on data governance, integration, cloud-based solutions, and real-time analytics, ensuring scalability and security across the organization.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a unified data architecture that integrates OT (e.g., vessel sensors, data recorders) and IT (e.g., ERP, CRM) systems.
  • Develop data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Architect ETL processes and real-time data streaming solutions for seamless data flow across systems.
  • Lead cloud-based data storage and analytics solutions, optimizing data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Support predictive analytics and real-time decision-making use cases, such as operational optimization and fleet management.
  • Establish Master Data Management (MDM) strategies, ensuring data consistency and accuracy across OT and IT systems.
  • Evaluate and implement data connectivity solutions using industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT).
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and governance teams to align data architecture with operational needs.
  • Ensure scalability and performance optimization of data pipelines, balancing efficiency and cost.
Core Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with expertise in OT and IT integration.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data modeling, and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks for compliance and security.
  • Hands-on experience with Master Data Management (MDM) principles, frameworks, and tools.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF enterprise architecture framework and cybersecurity protocols (RBAC, encryption, auditing).
Desired Skillsamp; Experience:
  • Experience working in public sector, crown corporations, or government environments.
  • Background in the transportation industry.
  • Experience supporting organizations with low data literacy and maturity.
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics, machine learning, and real-time decision-making.
  • Proficiency in industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT) for data connectivity.
Terms:
  • Contract Duration: 1 year, with the possibility of extension.
  • Work Arrangement: Primarily remote, with occasional onsite meetings in Victoria, BC.
