We offer competitive compensation packages, exciting employee incentives and the opportunity to develop under the prestigious Relais & Châteaux banner.Job descriptionThe Dock Supervisor position is responsible for direction and leadership in an effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Dock department including supervising a team of 8 direct reports. The Dock Supervisor possesses a quest for excellence and a true passion to deliver an amazing guest experience.This position completes all of the same tasks as the dock hands, including meeting and assisting every boat and water taxi coming to the Sonora dock, as well as all helicopters and sea planes, taking guest luggage to and from the rooms upon arrival and departure. Dock Hands assist guests with foul weather gear and boxed lunches before their marine activities or fishing trips. They are also responsible for all outdoor maintenance such as window washing, pool maintenance, and exterior lodge cleaning to keep the facilities looking great. After receiving adequate training Dock staff will also supervise water sports at Florence Lake and provide guided archery lessons. The Dock Supervisor will also oversee the organization of guest fish, processing forms and transport of guest fish to St Jeans Cannery or home with the guest. This position would also manage the daily checklists and work lists that the dock team is responsible for completing, ensuring all required tasks are completed effectively.Job DutiesSet expectations and hold team accountable for demonstrating desired service behaviors in accordance with Relais and Chateaux expectations.Supervise and delegate tasks to a team of 8 Dock Hands.Assist with pre-season training of the dock hands, following training manual procedures.Ensure daily chores, assignments, and work checklists are completed by the dock team.Help guests prepare for their activities out on the water (fishing, Kayaking, eco tours, etc).Meet and assist every boat, water taxi, or sea plane that approaches our dock.Transport arriving guest luggage to rooms and deliver departing guest luggage to boat or flightSafely operate an ATV with trailer to move luggage and cargo. Training will be provided.Unload and transport all groceries and cargo arriving at the resort to respective storage areas.Assist Fishing guides in vacuum-packing, labeling, freezing and organizing guest fish.Package fish for transport home or preparing orders for St. Jeans Cannery.Keep accurate written daily records of all fish caught at Sonora Resort.Clean and tidy all docks, lodge exteriors, windows, decks, paths, railings and public areas.Provide supervised Archery lessons at our Archery Range. Training will be provided.Drive guests to Florence lake, provide a safety briefing and supervision for water sports (canoes and Stand Up Paddleboards). Use a small motor boat on the lake as needed. Training will be provided.Maintain and set up fly fishing and spin casting rods for guest use at our trout ponds.Keep the Dock Station tidy and organized, including stocking of the guest Snack Shack. Set up furniture, carpet, decorations, etc for special events.Follow daily start up and shut down checklists, as well as weekly maintenance chores.Keep a positive and fun attitude to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests.Assist department manager with administrative work including but not limited to; inventory control, purchasing processes, maintenance logbooks, opening or closing duties and checklists.Ensure effective working relationships and clear communication is maintained with all colleagues and departments.This is a seasonal position that works on site at the Resort in shift work rotations. Seeking a start date of mid-April.All staff are provided with complimentary single bedroom accommodations. Second languages are an asset.Experience in Marine operations or Dock hand work. Minimum 1 year of Supervisory experience.High School Diploma required. Any additional education or experience in the Hospitality, Marine, or Outdoor Wilderness related fields would be an asset.Strong leadership skills to coach, influence and motivate team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.Pleasure Craft Operators Card (Canadian Boating License)Valid Drivers LicenseFirst Aid & AED Certificate an asset.Willingness to learn and grow.Capable of the physical aspects of the job: Repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, combination of sitting, walking, standing for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling.Quick Apply
