Bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds, talents, and expertise, our FSTs are vital to making our Company stronger.Your OpportunityStantec is seeking an individual to provide intermediate level safety consulting services in support of the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Projects (IIWWTP) within our Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) team and our Water business. This role will report to the Director of Stantec #39;s Industrial Hygiene and HSSE Consulting Services team in collaboration with the Construction Administration and Safety Lead within the Iona Project Management Team.This position will be based out of any of our Burnaby, British Columbia location. Our Burnaby office operates the largest water and wastewater consultancy in British Columbia and serves as a primary design center for major water projects, including potable water treatment, storage reservoirs, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, and lift stations.The Health and Safety Coordinator will be assigned to the client #39;s jobsite to integrate policies and procedures which will guide the project regarding safety related policies. This role will verify that key systems, programs, and processes are developed and effectively implemented/documented for the project as related to health and safety. Will verify an active monitoring process is in place to drive timely completion of key activities for the project and verify deviations or exceptions from expected performance are communicated to client safety team and leadership. Their role will also support the Construction Administration and Safety lead in maintaining and updating the Heath Safety and Security Framework. They provide guidance for the implementation of requirements and processes developed in the HSSE Framework and provide technical guidance to staff on each project from a Health and Safety standpoint. Health and Safety Coordinators will be familiar with all project plans, project specifications, applicable laws and regulations related to safety.We are looking for you to help grow and lead a team of high performing individuals who are excited about collaborating to build this vital infrastructure to protect and improve public health and the environment.Your Key Responsibilities- Support project teams in the implementation of the IIWWTP HSSE Framework across all of the related projects- Serve as a#39;first point of contact #39; resource for issues related to Iona Projects Health and Safety- Assist in identifying and mitigating hazards- Coordinate IPMT member training requirements and maintain training records- Maintain necessary project H amp;S documentation and records- Review monthly safety submissions, monitor and collate key KPIs and report KPIs to leadership- Review H amp;S submittals- Assist Investigation Team for near-miss incidents and actual work-related injuries and illnesses associated with IPMT team members, including losses involving the environment or property- Develop and assign responsibility for completing corrective actions to remedy identified root causes from the investigation reports- When requested, support incident investigations for contractor-involved events associated with IIWWTP activities, but that do not include IPMT team members, property, or environmental impacts- Review and provide comment on contractor submitted incident investigation reports and corrective actions- Liaise with and report to Metro Vancouver Corporate Safety teams on safety related issues and updates- Conduct jobsite audits of IPMT related activities to verify compliance with OH amp;S requirements and IPMT Safety Framework- Support construction execution teams providing details and interpretation on project expectations as required.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.- Certified by, or working towards, a recognized certification by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and/or have the National Construction Safety Officer Certification.- Knowledge and experience applying regulatory and safety requirements.- Experience in implementing fieldwork programs.- Experience with emergency response.- Strong written and verbal communication skills.- Ability to remain organized and responsive to adaptive fieldwork programs and client reporting requirements.- Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software.Education and Experience- A degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred.- 5-8 years of experience of relevant industrial or construction field safety experience.Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
