Job Description

Considering our rapid business expansion, abm is currently looking for a Lab Manager in the Cell Biology Department to join our team! The successful candidate(s) will have plenty of opportunities for fast-track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative, and interactive cohort of scientists and colleagues. In this career placement at abm, we’re looking for an individual who has excellent communication and organization skills, is driven to think critically and has experience in cell culture.Self-motivated, hands-on, and detail-oriented, you will assist in ensuring overall efficiencies are achieved throughout the day-to-day laboratory production processes, project timelines, and execute according to customer needs. You administer the inventory computer system, document modifications and procedures, ensure the system accuracy and integrity. You are a motivated team player with the demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership overseeing the inventory levels and quality assurance with lab techniques in the department. This individual will support the Team Leader in identifying gaps and process improvements in facility operations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Curating cell lines stocks & inventory
  • Arranging for quarterly QCs
  • Creating inventory of newly licensed cell lines
  • Being responsible for the day-to-day cell culture lab management
  • Trouble-shoot and problem-solve for all issues coming up in the cell culture lab
  • Overseeing and controlling the inventory computer system
  • Providing effective leadership and specific directions for team members
  • Abiding by SOPs for all production processes
  • Proactively providing updates on cell culture lab to management
  • Maintaining communication and positive work environment within the team
  • Coordinating with other departments, and preparing for shipping logistics
Qualifications: shortlisted candidates will have the following experience:
  • At least a B.Sc. in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or relevant field
  • 5-10 years’ work experience with mammalian cell culture
  • 3 years of industry experience required, specifically in Biotechnology
  • Technical competency to trouble-shoot common cell culture issues in the lab
  • Excellent organizations skills and high attention to details
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Good time-management and prioritization of responsibilities
  • Strong accountability and proactive work attitude
  • Familiarity with Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capacity to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industry
**This is an onsite position at our headquarters in Richmond BC.
