Job Description

In light of our rapid business expansion, abm is currently looking for a Lab Assistant in our fast expanding Cell Biology department to join our team! The successful candidate will have plenty of opportunities for fast-track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists and colleagues. In this career placement at abm, we’re looking for an individual who has excellent communication, is driven to think critically and has a strong interest in cell culture.You will coordinate with the team leader and work to control quality and propagate cell lines. You will forecast and plan requirements with the team leader to ensure that inventory for internal use is in place to meet project demands, and communicate effectively with managers, supervisors and other departments. You are a motivated team player with the demonstrated ability to provide effective quality assurance with lab techniques in the department.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the cell biology department in an entry-level position in accordance to the standard operating procedures, such as culturing cells.
  • Assist with general lab maintenance tasks
  • Participate in our Cell Licensing Project (CLP) to help commercialize new cell lines by conducting cold reach out to various educational institutions
Qualifications: shortlisted candidates will have the following experience:
  • A high school degree, college certificate/diploma or university bachelors degree
  • Keen interest in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or relevant field
  • Previous experience, such as a co-op term, is an asset; experience in Biotechnology is a bonus
  • Excellent organization skills, high attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication to act as the liaison between multiple different teams and external stakeholders
  • Capacity to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industry
  • Compensation will be based on qualification and competency.
