As an integral member of our team, this role will primarily focus on cost and financial accounting for our maintenance shops, coupled with comprehensive analysis of the financial results. Additionally, the successful candidate will play a crucial role as a liaison between our finance and operations departments. The accountant will be responsible for managing profitability, providing in-depth financial analysis, and offering valuable support during the budgeting and forecasting process. Ultimately, we are seeking an inquisitive accountant who will help drive operational efficiencies, optimizing financial performance and streamlining processes.Key Responsibilities:- Act as a liaison between finance and operations, facilitating communication and collaboration to ensure synergy between financial and operational aspects.- Provides insightful analysis and supports budgeting and forecasting processes to optimize financial outcomes.- Calculates work-in-progress project costing and revenue to accurately reflect the financial performance of ongoing projects.- Collaborates with project managers, shop managers, and stakeholders to monitor project status and identify financial implications.- Conducts reconciliations to ensure financial data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.- Ensures revenue and costs are recognized in accordance with GAAP to maintain financial accuracy and transparency.- Performs OPEX and CAPEX analysis to evaluate the financial impact of different expense types.- Conducts P amp;L analysis to assess profitability and financial health of the business unit.- Prepares and posts journal entries to record related transactions accurately and maintain a comprehensive financial record.- Monthly preparation of business unit performance results and cost-related KPIs to monitor financial performance.- Conducts capacity analysis, labour analysis, absorption analysis, and other variance analysis to identify cost drivers and improve cost efficiency.- Researches and comments on financial variances, comparing actuals to budget/forecast and analyzing trends to make informed financial decisions.- Works with shops to develop and monitor standard costs for material, labour, and subcontractor operations to establish accurate cost benchmarks.- Reviews budget assumptions, labour rates, productivity and capacity setup to align financial planning with operational goals.- Prepares business cases to support business development proposals, providing financial justification and ROI analysis.- Calculates profitability by customer, aircraft, or other relevant factors to evaluate financial viability of different business segments.- Collaborates with the business intelligence team to build and validate reports. Utilizing data analytics for strategic financial insights.- Assists with internal and audit requests, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.- Assists with implementation of new systems, policies, and procedures as required, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to accounting standards.Qualifications, Skillsamp; Attributes:- CPA designation or working towards one- Minimum of 2-5 years working experience in an accounting role- Strong critical thinking abilities, capable of analyzing complex financial scenarios, identifying potential issues, and proposing innovative solutions to enhance financial performance.- Strong analytical skills, with a mathematical and numerical inclination, capable of interpreting financial data effectively.- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial analysis and reporting- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including comfortable use of shortcuts commonly used in finance for efficient data manipulation and analysis.- Working knowledge of US and Canadian GAAP- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and building positive working relationships.- Strong business acumen, understanding the broader financial implications and strategic impact of accounting decisions.- Ability to organize and manipulate large sets of data efficiently, conducting thorough analysis to draw meaningful insights and support informed decision-making.- Excellent prioritization skills, enabling the handling of a demanding workload and meeting critical deadlines with accuracy and precision.Requisition ID: 2023-5727
