We’re a fast-growing company offering exceptional career opportunities.The role:We are seeking Pilot Plant Engineers to join our team. The Pilot Plant Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operation and optimization of our pilot-scale plants. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advance your technical skills while collaborating with senior leaders and subject matter experts at Saltworks.On average, your work will be 50% at customer sites and 50% at our headquarters. Field shifts generally require 2-3 weeks at site, followed by a similar time at headquarters. Further afield locations may require longer periods at site.Your main tasks will include:

  • Operating pilot-scale industrial water treatment and lithium refining plants (training provided).
  • Data collection, wet lab analysis, data interpretation, and data management (training provided).
  • Learning about inorganic water chemistry, water treatment, lithium refining (through our expert staff), and building your skills to interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Learning about Saltworks’ products, treatment processes, and pilot plant infrastructure.
  • Writing completion reports as required.
  • Contributing design feedback and ideas for improvement.
  • Developing or advancing your hands-on skills to complete basic pilot plant maintenance work, while being supported by skilled tradespeople for advanced work.
  • Utilizing and advancing your technical analysis and communication skills, especially related to engineering drawings, documentation, mass balances, results interpretation, problem solving, and innovation.
You will be a great fit if you have:
  • No travel constraints: You must have a valid passport and be able to travel to customer sites within North America and internationally.
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2 – 3 years of relevant post-graduation working experience as an Engineer/Technologist in an industrial setting.
  • A strong commitment to safety, while maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
  • The ability to be highly organized; manage your time well and meet project objectives.
  • A mechanical aptitude and a keen ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Proficiency in working with tools, industrial instruments, and laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • The ability to maintain a high quality of work and quickly learn new skills.
  • Team player who is ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in as required.
