Job Description

Looking for a career where you are challenged to think, continuously learn and collaborate with others Applied Biological Materials (abm) Inc. is a Vancouver-based biotechnology company that develops and markets research reagents to the biotechnology industry. abm is currently looking for a Production Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will have plenty of opportunities to fast track their career while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists and colleagues. We are looking for an individual who has excellent organization, communication and an interest in DNA and cloning to join our team!Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plasmid purification (miniprep and maxiprep)
  • Restriction Enzyme digest and analysis
  • E. coli transformation
  • PCR, DNA purification and cloning
  • Sequencing analysis
  • Laboratory maintenance
  • Autoclave and glassware
  • Media, buffer and reagent preparation
  • Maintain and keep daily records
Qualifications: shortlisted candidates will have the following experience:
  • BSc or equivalent experience or education in biotechnology
  • Previous experience working with DNA, plasmids and cloning would be considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Good time-management and prioritization of responsibilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and DNA analysis software and tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
