Dedicated to safety, excellence, innovation, and people, we are committed to continuously improving the west coast travel experience of our customers.SHIP SAFETY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIANRichmond - Fleet Maintenance UnitWorking as a team player, you are a self-motivated individual with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to others. You are responsible to service and maintain firefighting, lifesaving, and other related shipboard equipment to regulatory standards.You remove, secure, test and replace all relevant wheelhouse equipment such as ships radios, ships navigation equipment, ships charts and publications. You remove, maintain, test, transport and replace fixed and portable firefighting equipment in accordance with applicable regulations, such as SCBA equipment, fire suits, fire detection equipment, fire station alarms and fire detection panels, fire doors, fire dampers, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, deluge/drencher/sprinkler systems, water mist systems, tank void vents and anti-flash screens, and deck scupper systems.Additionally you prepare and complete all fire equipment documentation for regulatory review and approval and assist with vessel berthing during arrival and departure as well as periodic inspections of onboard shore based fire protection and potable water supply systems.You have basic knowledge of WCB regulations and safe working practices and working knowledge of relevant materials and tools. You hold a Watchkeeping Mate Certificate or equivalent Command Endorsement. You have basic knowledge of the Canada Shipping Act and minimum 3 years’ experience in a marine industry.
