Job Description

On behalf of our local healthcare client, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Solutions Architect for a 12-month contract opportunity.We are looking for a Solution Architect with significant clinical information systems integration experience to be responsible for the design of the solution architecture for the exchange of, and access to, a nationally standardized Patient Summary. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership and collaborate with teams working on the patient summary project, requiring integration between primary care EMRs, provincial clinical data sources, and acute clinical information systems. This may involve assessing current solutions and identifying solution options to improve or develop end-to-end system capabilities. The Solution Architect is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Performing analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, identifying technical specifications, and translating these into technical architectural system designs and occasionally prototypes.
  • Recommending architectural solutions that satisfy technical and functional requirements and align with the enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Fully participating in weekly and ad hoc meetings to support timely provision of information related to design decisions, progress, status, issues, risks, and solutions related to project deliverables.
  • Leading or facilitating meetings with subject matter experts with the goal of developing and validating technical solutions related to application development.
  • Creating and revising the Solution Architecture including a roadmap and approach to transition from current state architecture to planned future state architecture.
  • Collaborating with cross function and multi-disciplinary teams across multiple organizations to complete assigned tasks and deliverables.
  • Working with clinical informatics, clinicians, project managers, enterprise architects, business architects, product owners, business analysts, and developers.
  • Supporting the successful implementation of patient summary and system integrations.
  • Performing gap analysis between patient summary functionality and requirements.
  • Applying health information standards aligned to the pan-Canadian Health Infoway Patient Summary Specification (PS-CA).
Specific Qualifications or Experience Required:A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a degree in data science, health information science, and/or computer science including training and/or experience in designing solution architecture in health technology domain.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in the related field.
  • Experience working within the Health Authorities is highly preferred.
  • Strong client-facing and consulting skills.
  • Ability to effectively navigate and deliver results in a large and complex environment is a must.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts and topics in lay terms to non-subject matter experts and build consensus and credibility among diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven success in architecting enterprise application solutions from business, conceptual, logical, and physical levels.
  • Able to design and implement integrations between systems using APIs, web services, and middleware tools.
  • API for health application development experience.
  • Experience implementing technology using Smart on FHIR and/or FHIR data standards as basis for application design and data interoperability.
  • Working knowledge on and experience with agile management concepts, practices, and deliverables.
Preference given to candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Experience working within the BC Health Sector or similar province-wide health systems.
  • Experience with EMRs currently in use in BC.
  • Experience with FHIR, SMART on FHIR, SMILE CDR.
  • Experience in large-scale healthcare interoperability or integration projects.
  • Certifications (e.g., TOGAF, HL7 Certification, HL7 FHIR Fundamentals, Agile).
