Works closely with designated Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) in order to ensure consistent and positive client experience, and alignment on strategic goals. Incumbent is responsible for full cycle staffing and recruiting at multiple organizational levels.Job ResponsibilitiesBelow are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Specialist, Staffing and Recruitment.

  • Works with designated HR Business Partners to align business priorities with labour needs; based on clients recruitment forecasts and organization structure needs. Ensures the timely and effective planning, integration and execution for major recruitment initiatives.
  • Provides specialist advice and guidance to clients on the administration, interpretation, and application of effective employee recruitment and selection processes, to meet immediate and forecasted needs. Also provides advice in regards to corporate policies and programs and collective agreements as they apply to employee relations issues.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to hiring managers on all aspects of the talent acquisition process such as recruitment strategies, candidate selection, compensation recommendations, and offer presentation.
  • Works with the hiring manager to identify a profile for a successful candidate in order to initiate a recruitment plan. Connects candidate’s transferrable knowledge, skills and abilities with job requirements to identify potential candidates that can be successful in a role.
  • Develops and implements recruitment strategies including headhunting from competitors, leveraging social media, participating in job fairs etc. Sources both active and passive candidates with the intent on identifying, connecting and recruiting the best talent.

  • Advises hiring manager in all aspects of recruitment cycle, including cross-functional skills that can add a competitive advantage, potential weakness identified in candidates etc. in order to equip manager with all the information required to make an informed decision.
  • Prepares interview documentation and validates with hiring manager to ensure questions are related to job responsibilities. Conducts interviews with hiring managers resulting in excellent candidate experiences. Follows up with candidate regardless of outcome and ensures candidates maintains a favourable impression of CPC.
  • Plans, recruits, assesses and hires candidates for jobs in specialized or strategic areas while ensuring consistency in high standards to ensure Canada Post retains employees that will meet the business needs.
  • Ensures staffing actions are accurately reflected in applicant tracking system and SAP in a timely fashion to ensure data integrity, and avoid any negative impacts on employees.
  • Maintains a network of internal and external contacts to regularly benchmark and remain current on demographics, future trends and developments related to government standards, industry practices, legislation, guidelines and programs related to HR. Participates in external networking events, associations and career fairs to promote CPC brand.
QualificationsEducation
  • Completed post-secondary, preferably in a related field OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant functional experience.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset.
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system as well as LinkedIn, Facebook, and other social recruiting platforms, job boards, company cold-calling, and other sourcing mechanisms to identify candidates.
Other Candidate Requirements
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong communications, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to proactively work with hiring managers to drive the recruitment process.
  • Knowledge of common human resources practices, employment laws and/or government compliance regulations that affect recruitment.
