Job DescriptionJob Description MachinistLocation: Springland Manufacturing Department: Production Reports To: Production ManagerCompany Overview: Founded in 1985 by brothers Henry John and Herman Lepp in Manitoba Canada, Springland Manufacturing leads in precision-engineered components for the agricultural industry. Initially creating round-tube unloaders, we later developed the Springland U-Trough design and the 6000 Series Commercial Sweep to enhance grain handling. As a Machinist, you will be integral to our production process, contributing to the manufacturing of industry-leading solutions.Position Summary: As a Machinist at Springland Manufacturing, you will play a vital role in our production process, working with advanced machinery to create precision components that meet our high-quality standards. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation, directly contributing to the manufacturing of our industry-leading products. This job is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.Key Responsibilities: 1. Machining Operations - Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and drill presses, sheara, press-break, bandsaw - Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements - Perform precision measurements and quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools - Participate in research, development and prototyping2. Production and Quality Assurance - Produce high-quality components in accordance with established production schedules - Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance - Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to identify and resolve quality issues in real-time3. Continuous Improvement - Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas to enhance production efficiency and product quality - Assist in mentoring of new machinists and apprentices, sharing best practices and safety protocols4. Safety and Compliance - Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment - Ensure compliance with industry standards and practices related to machining and manufacturing processes5. Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine setups, production counts, and quality checks - Report any equipment malfunctions or production issues promptly to managementQualifications: - Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or relevant technical training preferred - Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment; experience with CNC and manual machining preferred - Skills - Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints - Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills - Familiarity with machining tools and equipment, including CNC programming - Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality - Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment - CAD software skills - G-Code understanding - welding basics - plasma cutting basics - torch or flame cutting - experience on CNC lathe/mill - able to work with MM/ Imperial measuring - computer skills email, word, excel - cutting tools and sharpening - Power tool skillsPhysical Requirements: - Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) - Prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive motion may be required - Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are essential for operating machineryWhy Join Us: At Springland Manufacturing, you will be part of a proud tradition of innovation and quality.
