Job Description

Before- and After-School Play-Based Learning LeaderEastgate Academy is a new private school in Moncton that opened in September 2021. The school’s focus is on the healthy balance between intellectual and academic growth and physical and mental well-being. Eastgate Academy is a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) and will develop to offer a full International Baccalaureate continuum. The school currently offers kindergarten to grade 7.Eastgate Academy is seeking staff for our before- and after-school play-based learning program called ‘Eastgate Explorers’. We are looking for individuals who are available from 3:30-5:30pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There will also be opportunities to pick up shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 - 8:30am, and Wednesday mornings from 7:30 - 9:30am.Responsibilities

  • Supervising students during extended play-based learning before and after school
  • Ensuring students are picked up by a designated adult
  • Maintaining an atmosphere of physical and emotional safety for children
  • Developing age-appropriate engaging activities for students, including creative, physical and/or outdoor activities
  • Ensuring children are following proper hygiene and safety procedures
  • Responding to any student or parent needs in a timely manner
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records
  • Attending to daily set-up and clean-up tasks
Required Qualifications and skills:
  • Demonstrated experience working with children ages 4 – 12
  • Dedicated attention to the care and safety of child
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Capacity to be creative, flexible, and patient
  • Strong communication skills
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
Preferred Experience and Qualities:
  • First Aid certification
  • Ability to speak French
Salary
  • $15 - $18 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
  • 6 to 12 hours per week
