Job Description

The Salvation Army Lakeview Manor is a 50- bed, Level 3 Nursing Home, owned, operated and accredited by The Salvation Army and licensed by the provincial government.Lakeview Manor follows a resident - focused philosophy using a team approach to enhance the quality of life for each resident. Lakeview Manor is committed to providing care in the Christian spirit of compassion without regards to race, color creed, gender or economic status.Working under the Supervision of The Director of Care and/or Registered Nurse the successful candidate will be exposed to a dynamic, resident-centered approach to care in a small Nursing Home. The Nursing Unit Clerk provides administrative and secretarial support, including scheduling and maintaining supplies to the Nursing Department and receives and directs phone calls and general inquiries regarding resident care, appointments etc.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing and submitting for review the draft schedule for the Care Department.
  • Completing shift replacements in accordance with the Collective Agreement utilizing a computer-based scheduling program;
  • Online ordering of Departmental supplies;
  • Prioritizing tasks and working effectively with residents, their families, staff, and service personnel;
  • Working independently with confidential, time-sensitive materials. Often the person in this position multi-tasks; working with numerous assignments simultaneously, with both written and verbal instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants must provide proof of a high school graduation or equivalent, plus a 12-month program such as records management, medical terminology, word processing or equivalency.
  • Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and experience with using computers, office equipment, and telephone system.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel is required.
  • The position involves primarily seated work, plus some light physical duties such as receiving deliveries and restocking.
  • Must be able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must provide proof of Covid Vaccination
  • Wages and benefits are consistent with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
