Join a team that empowers you to live up to your potential so that you can feel part of something bigger and make a difference in the lives of others.The OpportunityEmployment Type: Casual 0 FTEHours of Work: VariousWages: $18.25DUTIESReporting to the Site Manager/Care Manager/Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on shift, Comfort Care Aides work in a safe and consistent manner to deliver resident/client meal services, comfort and support activities, and cleaning services throughout the care home/program during a pandemic.Acting as a resident companion as directed; providing comfort and support to residents via companionship such as playing cards, reading the newspaper together, art, hand pamperingAssisting residents/clients with using mobile communication devices such as a smart phones, tabletsPortering residents/clients to and from their rooms, recreational activities, and dining room as requiredProvides choice to clients/residents in terms of selection, while taking pride in food presentation and customer satisfactionAssisting with meals and feeding as directed by the RN/LPNFilling and replacing PPE cartsCleaning tubs/showers after useMaking unoccupied bedsEmpties laundry baskets, as requiredEmpties garbage, as requiredResident/client hair careAssisting residents/clients with hearing or vision challengesCompletes enhanced cleaning/disinfecting of high touch surfaces throughout the buildingScreens staff and visitors as per outbreak/pandemic procedureMonitors front entrance and receives deliveries as requiredLoads and unloads supplies into appropriate storage roomsQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Grade 10Loving Spoonful’s (will be provided on orientation)Able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing so others can easily interpret and understand it fullyComfortable using a computer in order to complete orientation and onboardingExhibits an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equallyMaintains an individuals dignity and self-worth during conversationsExcellent active listening skillsDemonstrates flexibility by changing routine to accommodate resident/client needExperience working with the elderly preferredHousekeeping/environmental experience preferredWho we are:At The Good Samaritan Society, Good Samaritan Canada, and Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre, we believe that our employees are our number one asset.
