Job Description

KV Domestic Violence Outreach WorkerKennebecasis Valley, New BrunswickTemporary, Part Time (20 hours/week)KVDVO is a non-profit organization that assists women affected by intimate partner violence in the Kennebecasis Valley and surrounding areas. This organization is funded through the Women’s Equality Branch of the NB Executive Council, which provides parameters for operation.Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Board of Directors and the Outreach Coordinator for KVDVO Inc., the successful candidate is responsible for providing free, confidential outreach services to women experiencing/who have experienced intimate partner violence, including:

  • helping women navigate a path to safety (safety planning, emotional support, action plans, and programs)
  • assistance with Emergency Intervention Order applications
  • collaborating with numerous community resources and local agencies; and
  • providing community education
The Outreach Worker provides a wide range of services that help empower women and therefore must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Travel within and outside of the service area (KV and Hampton) is required. Mileage is compensated for travel outside of the service area.Qualifications and ExperiencePost secondary education in the social sciences (social work, psychology, etc.) is preferred but will consider a combination of education and experience.Experience with crisis intervention is an asset.Ability to take initiative and work independently with limited supervision.Successful clearance of criminal record verification (including vulnerable sector check) will be required for the position.A well developed awareness of community resources.Be proficient in the use of computers including word and data processing programs as well in the use of electronic equipment such as lap top, projector, photocopier, etc.Strong oral, written, and group facilitation skills along with excellent problem solving skills and experience with conflict resolution.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in another language is an asset.Demonstrated ability to function and participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.Good work and attendance record.Valid drivers license and access to reliable transportationThank you for your interest in this position.
