Math / Biology Position - Maternity Leave (Feb 2022-Feb 2023)Rothesay Netherwood SchoolRothesay, NBFounded in 1877, Rothesay Netherwood School is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for Grades 6 to 12 that offers innovative, world-class learning experiences in a safe and caring school community. We provide a nurturing environment where students are empowered to embrace their individuality while pursuing the greater good. More information about our school can be found at www.rns.cc.OVERVIEWRothesay Netherwood School (RNS) seeks a teacher to cover a 12-month maternity leave with the capabilities to teach Math and Biology in our Senior School. Experience with the IB Diploma Programme and with independent schools would be a considerable asset but not a requirement. The successful candidate has a proven record of being passionate about teaching and collaborative and innovative in their approach to problem solving. The person who fills this role will be able to leverage current technology to deliver rich and differentiated lessons.A teacher at RNS is expected to contribute beyond the classroom as well, and the ideal candidate will be involved as a coach or activity leader, advisor, and member of a residence duty team.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The school is committed to providing a unique and exceptional experience to our students.
  • As a member of the Faculty, you will report directly to the Assistant Head of School.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching five (5) classes, leading an advisory team, supporting students in achieving their academic and co-curricular goals, contributing to our athletic and/or co-curricular program and being a member of a residential duty team.
  • A mindset of collaboration, professional growth, team building, forward thinking and the demonstration of a commitment to a healthy lifestyle are also desired attributes.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience in Math and Sciences would be an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to build effective relationships, effectively resolve conflict, and gain the confidence of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate, build relationships, and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
  • Proficient computer skills with experience using the MS Office suite
  • Willingness to be involved in the school community
