Job Description

AltaGas is seeking an Operations Accountant to join our Midstream Finance team! Our team is dedicated to ensuring accurate and timely allocations of gas plant activities, confirmation of terminal operations, volumetric and regulatory reporting, and precise invoicing for services provided.We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who enjoys collaborating with internal and external team members, supporting team and organizational goals and aims to enhance their analytical skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated, and capable of managing a variety of daily and monthly tasks.What You #39;ll Do:

  • Accurate and timely allocation of gas and products on assigned properties (daily and monthly).
  • Preparation of gas splits and liquids to pipelines, assisting with forecasting when necessary.
  • Volumetric and regulatory reporting to appropriate agencies (experience with Shipper #39;s Splits and APMC is beneficial).
  • Analysis of property, including examining metering differences, shrinkage, gas analysis, and liquid recoveries.
  • Invoicing customers for services provided and developing a contractual understanding of assigned properties. Periodically review contracts to ensure invoice accuracy.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and demonstrate a mindset of continuous improvement.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in commerce, business administration, or a related discipline, or a professional accounting designation (CPA or CFA) or working towards such designation. An appropriate combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • 1-3 years of production accounting exposure or similar/comparative experience.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must work effectively with teams of varying backgrounds and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, pay strong attention to detail, and prioritize tasks to meet tight and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Enjoy problem-solving and possess a natural curiosity about results and their implications.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications, with a primary focus on Excel for day-to-day activities.
  • Knowledge of the Quorum TIPS application is an asset.
  • Ability to use various applications with minimal instruction (e.g., Petrotranz, JDE FFVM, and Power BI).
  • Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting (CAPPA) Certification is beneficial.
