We opened the facility following substantial completion and provide ongoing facilities management to ensure security and operational integrity during the daily operations that include throughput of up to 400 prisoners a day. Our team was involved from the initial stages of the project and had a solid understanding of what was required to transition from construction to commissioning into long term operations. SNC-Lavalin was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the Alberta Justice Department for the emergency management and business continuity plan for this facility. In addition, the Calgary Courts Centre achieved BOMA BEST Platinum certification and won the 2018 BOMA Earth Award.We are seeking a full-time Building Technician to join our team at Calgary, AB Courts Centre. This position is responsible for the effective operation of the environmental, mechanical, and electrical operational systems including but are limited to heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, major refrigeration systems, electrical lighting and distribution, and water treatment in support of one of our building maintenance projects.Your role within the team:

  • Perform the scheduled preventive maintenance and general maintenance on the mechanical/electrical systems, HVAC systems and life safety equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to tenants.
  • Monitor the environmental and protection systems for buildings.
  • Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures, and practices.

The ideal candidate:
  • Working knowledge of environmental, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems for office and warehouse facilities, including DDC systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to make effective technical decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with a strong customer service focus.
  • Must have valid driver #39;s license and access to reliable transportation outside of public transit hours.
  • Must be willing and able to work after hours and weekends as required and to be available for standby rotation to respond to after-hours service requests.
