  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers…….
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations…….
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process…….
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures…….
  • Prepare samples according to CSA, ASTM and ASME standardsamp; customer requirements
  • Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information
  • Responsible for completion of task safety evaluations, near miss and hazard reporting as required
QualificationsEducation: Third to fourth the year apprentice or certified journeyperson, holding a valid recognized credentialCertification: Working toward Interprovincial Standards Red SealExperience : 3 + yearsSpecific technical skills:Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Work consists of 80% Manual/ 20% CNC
  • Manual Equipment - Lathe Machine, Vertical Milling, Horizontal Milling, Surface Grinder, Brand Sawamp; Hand Tools/Preparation
  • CNC - HAAS Mini Mill
Mathematics -- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • the ability to use their hands skillfully and quickly
  • the ability to estimate and measure sizes and lengths accurately
  • strength, stamina and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle items weighing up to 25 kilograms.
  • the ability to work independently at tasks that require concentration as well as physical effort
  • basic computer knowledge
  • Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiply projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with independently
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPointamp; Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with othersamp; independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
