Title: Manager, Operations (CAN)Req ID: 4094Job Category: Manufacturing / Truck DriverLocation:Calgary, AB, CA, T2C 5N5Job FamilyManufacturingExempt/Non-ExemptExemptFunctionManufacturingEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesChampion Lean/CI methodologies and processes to deliver improved productivity, efficiency, quality, cost, customer service, and safetyEnsure sufficient capacity to meet customer demandsManage talent (e.g., development, succession planning, performance management)Plan and implement safety policies and training in compliance with company safety program and OHS regulations to eliminate work-related injuriesReview and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problemsConfer with managers to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain necessary data on customer orders and delivery needsPlan and direct production and establish priorities, balancing effective customer service and cost factors, and optimizing utilization of people and equipmentDevelop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality and safetyRevise product schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems, and consult with Engineering on equipment modification and other continuous improvement efforts, and consult with Sales on customer prioritiesAssume leadership role with associate relations, including morale, ongoing communications, and change managementUse division targets to set stretch goals and ensure budgets are metLeads Plant Operations including supply management, production scheduling, manufacturing process, shipping maintenance, people management and implementation of change initiatives, taking a balanced approach to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as safety, people, quality, service, and costUtilize best-in-class strategies, practices, and programs to create an Operation and Supply Chain Delivery Model aligned to the needs and direction of the companyEnsure optimal levels of materials, workforce planning, and operational capacity to meet customer demandsIn partnership with subordinate Leadership Team, review and analyze production, quality, maintenance, and Supply Chain reports/data to determine root cause(s) of non-conformance to KPIsFunctional/Technical CompetenciesIn partnership with Manager of Human Resources, roll-out and adoption of Corporate Employee Performance, Development and Succession Planning Programs; Safety Policy and Training in compliance to Company Safety and OHS Regulation ProgramsIn partnership with internal Engineering and external Corporate Engineering Team, identify equipment modifications and CI opportunities. Present well thought out CAPEX requests/business cases in alignment to company KPIsIn partnership with Site Controller and Corporate Logistics Team, balance prudent budgeting and cost control with internal Logistics and external 3PLs partners in the delivery of Customer Service excellenceAssume leadership role with associate relations, including morale, ongoing communications, and change managementReview and conduct system of layered audits for all functions on siteLead industrial relations and negotiations for siteParticipate in site specific and special projects as neededExperience/EducationBachelor #39;s degree (Business or Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience5-10 years related experience in an automated Lean Manufacturing environmentBilingual an assetStrong written and oral communication skillsProficient in MS Office and familiar with ERP and SMMS systemsAble to lead change initiatives and transform environmentGoal oriented with strong analytical and organizational skillsAble to work in high volume/short lead time environment; Lean Manufacturing experienceComplete commitment to Safety and regulatory complianceExperience with Union Labour Relations and ManagementKnowledgeable of Provincial legislation i.e. Human Rights, Labour Relations, Employment Standards, Occupational H amp;SJob Factors/Work EnvironmentsUp to 15% travel.
