Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Specialist is responsible for the controls (e.g., approvals, tracking, forecasting, and management reporting and analysis) on large construction projects associated primarily with cost. Additional areas may include schedule, risk, lessons learned, and change management.This role will be fly-in fly-out, camp-based on a project in British Columbia, Alberta, or Saskatchewan.What You Will Be Working On

  • Work with project controls team to support internal and client cost management expectations
  • Conduct regular data audits regarding labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs and hours
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly audits on data integrity regarding cost coding
  • Support project team with change management ensuring changes are estimated and tracked in accordance with the project work breakdown structure
  • Support forecasting efforts of cashflow, cost to complete and identify areas that require mitigation
  • Provide weekly cost and performance reporting using earned value methodology
  • Support project management with quarterly profit/loss forecasting
  • Support and educate team members on following processes to optimize efficiency and data integrity
  • Ensure all project data is being entered in a timely manner by project team members
  • Support accounts payable to team as required
  • Support financial team with accruals reporting and the invoicing process
  • Provide oversight of material purchase order breakdown and cost budget allocations
  • Review committed cost vs actual cost and remaining cost against all purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Provide all additional cost reporting in accordance with client and internal requirements
What we are Looking For
  • 5+ years of cost management experience on site in construction
  • Strong analytical skills in data management and analysis
  • Experience working on medium to large complex projects
  • Experience in developing cost breakdown structures that are in alignment with project work breakdown structure
  • Understanding estimate breakdowns and converting them into cost budgets
  • Comfortable interact with field craft and clients on site
  • Strong understanding of cost control workflows including earned value management
  • Demonstrates a desire to grow with the organization
