Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supply Chain Management Lead will direct and assist in the development of supply chain management processes and initiatives, including core functions of category management, vendor relationshipsamp; procurement. This role will also assist in the identification of current strengths in the organization, as well as assist in the development of the proposed solutions and process improvements.This position is based in the Calgary, AB office with travel to project sites as required.What You Will Be Working OnLeadership

  • Lead, direct and mentor a team of Buyers.
  • Collaborate with national SCM administrator position (MDM and Vendor Set ups) in support of Bird #39;s Master Data Management programs.
  • Establish and lead a culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards, that is aligned with Bird #39;s corporate values; demonstrate and ensure accountability, agility and innovation.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, support, training and mentorship.
  • Develop and/or participate in the development of analytics, systems data management, metrics, reporting and training.
  • Conduct performance plans, career progress check ins (CPC) and assessments with direct reports.
  • Manage vacation time of direct reports.
Business Planning
  • Compiles and presents research, competitive analysis, and trends to the Manager, SCM for strategic and annual forecasts.
  • Researches, compiles and creates presentations/reporting for all levels of the organization, including the Executive Management Team.
Communications
  • Proactively engages and collaborates with various business units/stakeholders to move key priorities ahead.
  • Oversees and supports implementation of supply chain management policies, procedures and resources, to ensure consistency and effectiveness of communication (e.g., new vendor agreements, employee discounts, etc.).
  • Work with the broader supply chain management team to identify key messages and incorporate into the overall framework.
  • Develop key Supply Chain messaging for the organization as it relates to current process, new initiatives and strategic objectives.
Process Support
  • Compiles and analyses all existing policies, procedures and resources, and provide recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Coordinates, organizes and maintains documents (e.g., forms, checklists, procedures/process) on internal SharePoint site.
  • Oversees and ensures policies and procedures are aligned to the strategic goals of the company.
  • Chairs or assist in related meetings to record, distribute, and track action items.
  • Compiles and distributes reporting requirements in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
SCM
  • Work with the broader supply chain management team in the development and implementation of a strategic sourcing/ category management strategy that supports Bird Construction #39;s strategic initiatives and will provide alignment across all SCM functions at the district level.
  • Compile and analyze spend data, vendor utilization and external market data in the formation, implementation and ongoing utilization of category management strategies and strategic sourcing plans for all SCM managed spend
  • Continually assess and evaluate market and delivery conditions to determine present and future goods and material availability in collaboration with the District SCM teams.
  • Develop and implement contract management strategies pertaining to preferred vendors; negotiates terms and conditions that are optimal to Bird, and minimize contractual risk, while ensuring that volume discounts and related cost savings initiatives are communicated to the districts.
  • Lead the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from national suppliers and/or subcontractors.
  • Reviews national vendor master service contracts for conformance to company policy in collaboration with Operations, Legal and Finance.
Vendor Management
  • Organizes supplier content and oversees the administration of all related documentation (including RFQ, RFP, and RFI processes).
  • Compiles and distributes mail-outs and other vendor communication.
  • Maintains contact lists and track prospects in company database.
  • Identifies key contacts and assists in establishing and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Tracks proposals, submissions, successes, failures, set up, and participates in debriefing feedback.
  • Manages the identification and inputs of the preferred vendor program.
  • Publishes preferred vendor information on the company Intranet.
What You Will Be Working OnQualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Related certification (SCMP) an asset
  • 5+ years #39; experience in leadership, preferably within a procurement or supply chain function and familiarity with the systems development lifecycle
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring a team.
  • A background as a Buyer or Purchaser, an asset
  • Advanced technical proficiency in: SharePoint, ViewPoint, SAP, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel) Power BI an asset.
  • Proven proficiency in market research and the ability to inspect and review large amounts of data to produce reports and trend.
  • Advanced understanding of business processes and objectives with ability to elicit and recognize business problems or opportunities
  • Proven results with effective communication, presentation and facilitating skills to various size and styles of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships while influencing change through collaboration
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills at multiple levels
  • Supportive of a culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards aligned with the strategic priorities of the company.
  • Familiarity with electrical contracting products is advantageous.
  • Possessing expertise in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) product knowledge is highly beneficial.
