  • We have an immediate opening for a Senior Process Engineer in the Montreal, QC area to support ongoing and future project work. The successful candidate will be able to take on a client-facing role as a technical lead and subject-matter expert.
  • We also have continued opportunities for Intermediate/Senior Process Engineers to support ongoing and future project work in Jacobs #39; locations across Canada.
We #39;re looking for a Process Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients #39; business. Join us and you #39;ll have the chance to work on projects at some of the world #39;s most state of the art industrial and commercial facilities. You #39;ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client #39;s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.Jacobs specializes in the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities, including, as examples, wind tunnels (aerospace, automotive, and motorsports), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. Our projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets.We are looking for a mechanical process engineer who will work to ensure client satisfaction and deliver key projects within scope, budget, and schedule. You should be a self-motivated professional with at least 15 years of progressive design experience in order to:
  • Lead project teams to develop new designs for various process systems supporting advanced facilities, including taking ownership of the technical schedule and budget performance of the work assigned to them
  • Independently plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate engineering work through the selection and adaptation or modification of techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Analyzing features or work and applying sound engineering principles and practices
  • Reviewing results from assigned tasks and from junior engineer and determining if results are complete, correct, and adequately documented.
  • Developing technical reports and presentations for project management and clients
  • Formally checking the work of others for completeness
  • Leading and mentoring junior engineers
  • Working closely with structural, machine design, controls and instrumentation and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.
  • Sizing and specifying piping/ducting and piping/ducting components, selection of compressors, pumps and fans, valves, flow measurement and fluid conditioning equipment.
  • Designing
o High pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping systemso High Temperature systems including steam systemso Refrigeration, vacuum, and fuel systemso Specialty HVAC systems and componentsHere #39;s What You #39;ll Need:
  • Bachelor #39;s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensing within any Canadian province is mandatory with at least 5-10 years of relevant and progressively responsible experience.
  • Candidates for the role in Montreal, QC must be Members in Good Standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (l #39;ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Prior design experience with process systems including piping and thermal conditionaing
  • Facility and/ or Industrial design experience including pharmaceutical/consumer/chemical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, data center, or similar
  • Knowledge of AMSE B31.1 and B31.3 and ASME B amp;PV Code
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow - compressible and incompressible, thermal sciences, and process systems. Experience in design and/or maintenance of mechanical process systems is preferred but not required.
  • Software experience preference: AutoCAD, 3D software, AutoPipe, Caesar II, Mathcad, Creo, AFT
  • Experience working on projects through alternative finance and procurement models such as Design-Build or Design-Build-Finance would be an asset.
Jacobs offers a hybrid working environment where you will have the opportunity to work mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.
