This includes numerous public entities and Public-Private Partnerships in Canada and abroad.Reporting to the Project Director, Aecon is seeking a Utilities Manger to support our Major Projects West division out of Calgary, Alberta.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uphold and maintain a strong safety culture for all employees, clients, and customers that adhere to government regulations and Aecon safety standards.
  • Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
  • Carry out site safety inspections.
  • Provide technical guidance to Site Superintendents and Project Coordinators.
  • Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
  • Develop and supervise project schedules, control project costs, and manage scope.
  • Attends and supports project planning meetings, including T-meetings, integration meetings, internal and customer reporting meetings, etc. (as required)
  • Validation and monitoring of project metrics (Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule) for assigned work segments.
  • Oversee all project communication to ensure client is up to date on planning, scope management, budgeting finances, subcontracting, environmental compliance, and scheduling.
  • Proactively manage risk and mitigation
  • Any resource constraints impacting planned work are identified and reported.
  • Ensure all required materials and services have been identified and ordered, as well as any material delivery risks identified, and action/recovery plans assigned.
Experience required:
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • 7 years #39; experience in a utility environment
  • Degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or construction management, or Technical Training and field experience, in lieu of Degree
  • Able to liaison with Municipal and Utility company representatives
  • Experience with Permits and Permitting entities, and contracts.
  • Preference for experience in Heavy Civil and or Project Environment
  • CAD would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Great team coordination and#39;work together #39; mind set.
  • Exceptional understanding of estimating, project forecasting and change management principals and processes.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, resource balancing for a variety of sizes of projects.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to resolve project disputes.
  • Ability to Inspire and foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers.
